Make the Most Out of Your Spray Tan
Salons are opening back up which can only mean one thing… Spray Tans!!
Here’s some of our top tips for anyone who is thinking of getting back into the spray tanning tent soon…
At least 24 hours before
If you need to wax or shave, we recommend doing this at least 24 hours before. And you must exfoliate and moisturise at least 24 hours before too! This will give you the best possible skin canvas for your tan to work on. Clean, smooth & hydrated skin absorbs tan more which will result in darker, even results. Make sure to concentrate on those drier areas e.g. ankles, knees and elbows.
Before you go
Paint your nails. This will create a barrier between the tan and your natural nail. Otherwise, you risk your nails going brown too!
Make sure to wear dark, loose fitting clothing so that your tan can remain perfect whilst it’s developing! As for shoes, the best to wear is flip flops. Putting on socks straight after a spray tan can risk all the tan coming off your feet.
Make sure to head to the salon with clean skin. This means no deodorant, no moisturiser and no makeup! Moisturiser and makeup will prevent the tan from absorbing as normal, leading to paler results. Wearing deodorant during your spray tan can also lead to green armpits- you’ve been warned!
Make sure you give your tan enough time to develop before you have a bath or shower. Your therapist should tell you how long you need to leave it on for!
When rinsing your body, avoid rubbing the skin or using products containing oil. This will lift your results.
Don’t forget to pat dry with a towel too!
- Keep your skin hydrated- drink plenty of water & moisturise
- Use a gentle exfoliator when needed
- Avoid oil-based products
- Avoid chlorine (swimming)
